Hello!
The weather has suddenly gotten cold again these days.
It keeps warming up and cooling down—it’s completely unpredictable.
While walking past Yeonnam-do
ng’s Yeontral Park near Hongdae Entrance Station,
I suddenly came across a mara skewer shop.
Lately, more places like this have been popping up where you can casually grab some mara skewers.

Curious, I decided to buy a few to try.
The shop itself is quite small and cozy.
Everything is decorated in bright red, really showing off that Chinese mara vibe.
Just like at a mara-stew place, you pick the ingredients you want first,
choose your spice level, and then eat!

Instead of a proper food tray, they use what looks like an ordinary plastic basket…
Well, I let that slide.
There was actually a wider variety of skewers than I expected.

Prices generally start around 1,000–1,300 KRW per skewer.
They also sell bundled set options (three skewers per set), which seem to be a bit cheaper.
One big advantage of this place is that everything is sold per skewer,
so you can buy just a small amount.
We only got three to sample:
two lamb skewers (1,300 KRW each) and one fish ball (1,300 KRW).

Once you choose the spice level, they drizzle the sauce accordingly.
We wanted to try two different flavors,
but if you pay all at once, you can only choose one flavor.

The takeaway container comes in a fixed size—
and it’s HUGE.
Bigger than a medium popcorn at a movie theater.
As for the lamb skewers… there was too much fat,
and it was hard to chew, so I ended up throwing them away at all… 😢

The fish ball, on the other hand, was a processed product,
so it was reliably decent and tasty.

If mara-stew or mara xiangguo feels a bit too heavy,
this is a reasonable option for those times
when you’re really craving mara —maybe once in a while.
